Role Overview

We are seeking a Manager of Software Development to lead a skilled group of software engineers in creating scalable and robust features for our AI-driven platform. This position involves hands-on management to mentor engineers, eliminate obstacles, oversee technical delivery, and collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to transform visionary ideas into production-ready software.

Key Responsibilities

• Mentor and develop software engineers through regular individual coaching, feedback, career growth support, and technical guidance.
• Lead timely delivery of features, system improvements, and technical debt reduction aligned with product and engineering goals.
• Set high standards for software quality, architecture, testing, security, and stable operations.
• Partner with Product teams to clarify requirements, prioritize work, and translate product objectives into executable technical tasks.
• Promote AI integration within development workflows, including planning, tooling, operational use, and cost controls to boost efficiency and foster innovation.
• Anticipate and resolve blockers, facilitate decision-making, and ensure engineers have needed context and resources.
• Support workforce planning and play a key role in recruiting, selecting, onboarding, and scaling engineering talent.
• Constantly refine development processes to enhance team productivity, speed, and adaptability to shifting priorities.
• Drive production excellence by maintaining reliable services and leading post-incident learning.
• Contribute ideas on emerging technologies, engineering methodologies, and architectural strategies for the AI platform's long-term success.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of software development experience, including at least two years in leadership or management positions.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Python, TypeScript, or Java within scalable SaaS environments.
• Practical experience developing and deploying cloud services on AWS, GCP, or Azure, with strong knowledge of distributed and microservices architectures.
• Successful track record managing complex software projects full lifecycle, balancing priorities, dependencies, and risks.
• In-depth understanding of software engineering best practices covering testing, API/database design, security, and system reliability.
• Experience developing engineers while fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning environments.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills to engage across technical and cross-functional teams.
• Familiarity with Machine Learning or Data Science collaborations and AI-enhanced products is a plus.
• Experience scaling engineering teams in dynamic startup or growth-stage tech settings.
