Job description

Role Overview

The Manager of Financial Reporting is tasked with ensuring the precise recording of financial transactions, supervising departmental staff, and delivering accurate and prompt financial reports to internal teams and external stakeholders. This position plays a key role in supporting both internal and external analyses and reporting activities for designated business units.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements in compliance with established guidelines for submission to the Board, Jamaica Stock Exchange, Senior Management, and Head Office.
  • Authorize journal entries ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and maintain the general ledger monthly.
  • Review bank reconciliations and analyze suspense and clearing accounts.
  • Examine subledger reconciliations related to investments, repurchase agreements, loans, and equity products.
  • Guarantee prompt and accurate submission of all statutory and regulatory reports, including weekly, monthly, and quarterly filings to the Financial Services Commission and Jamaica Stock Exchange.
  • Review and process Accounts Payable invoices.
  • Support timely completion of both internal and external audits.
  • Contribute to the annual budgeting process.
  • Ensure all tax returns are filed and payments made on time, covering GCT, payroll taxes, asset tax, income tax, and withholding tax.
  • Regularly liaise with internal stakeholders to address operational matters and key financial metrics.
  • Propose improvements to policies, procedures, and processes to reduce risks and enhance finance team efficiency.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance evaluations for staff members.

  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving capabilities, and investigative aptitude.
  • Proficient in computerized accounting systems and spreadsheet software.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex financial reports.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Effective management of time and ability to multitask under tight deadlines.
  • Capable of identifying problems, collecting relevant data, and making sound conclusions.
  • Strong negotiation and persuasion abilities.
  • Skillful in working efficiently in a fast-paced environment with challenging deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Professional certification such as ACCA or CPA from a recognized institution.
  • At least five years of relevant experience, including senior roles in financial management within banking or financial services.
  • Experience in the financial services sector is advantageous.
  • Thorough knowledge of financial reporting systems.
