The AI/BI team specifically is responsible for enhancing Databricks as the premier platform for business users to generate, discover, and engage with data insights. This team focuses on four critical areas: Dashboards, Genie, Databricks One, and the Unity Catalog Business Semantics. The latter enables users to centrally define trusted business metrics and metadata. Databricks One simplifies access for non-technical users, Genie provides cutting-edge conversational text-to-SQL capabilities, and Dashboards facilitate daily business operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a proficient engineering team comprising full-stack developers and subject matter experts focused on initiatives such as data visualization and business semantics products.
• Drive continuous recruitment to attract high-caliber talent and foster their professional growth within the team.
• Establish and refine processes that translate product vision and organizational priorities into effective execution strategies.
• Deliver software solutions of exceptional quality that are maintainable and operationally efficient.
• Oversee management of technical debt, making informed long-term architectural decisions while balancing product roadmap demands.

Required Qualifications

• Proven expertise in hiring and nurturing engineering talent effectively.
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement processes enhancing productivity and quality.
• Minimum of two years managing engineering teams responsible for SaaS platform systems.
• At least five years’ experience developing distributed systems, platforms, and services supporting multiple product teams and customers with exceptional application experiences.
• Experience scaling engineering teams from small groups (around 5) up to larger teams (20+ members).
• Collaborative team player with experience working cross-functionally with product management and customer success teams.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Strong record in attracting, hiring, and retaining top engineering professionals.
• Experience leading geographically distributed teams.
• Resilience and adaptability thriving in fast-changing, dynamic technology environments.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range offered for this position in Canada is between 171100 and 227500 CAD per year. Total compensation may also include annual performance bonuses, stock equity, and extensive benefits tailored to employee needs according to regional offerings.
