Job Overview

The Manager - Clinical Risk at Bupa Arabia is tasked with overseeing the design, execution, and enhancement of quality, patient safety, clinical risk management, accreditation, and clinical review programs as directed by the Medical Division of Bupa CareConnect. The role demands fostering a culture of quality improvement across healthcare delivery, engaging with various operational units to align with the institution's vision and strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and oversee continuous quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical risk programs in line with regulatory and internal policies.
  • Identify, evaluate, and address clinical and non-clinical risks affecting patients, caregivers, and staff throughout healthcare services.
  • Advocate for evidence-based approaches to reduce medical errors and adverse patient incidents.
  • Assist leadership in crafting strategies for patient safety and performance advancements.
  • Ensure delivery of quality and safe services that fulfill Bupa CareConnect's medical quality standards.
  • Collaborate with clinical teams to implement and maintain clinical quality indicators and performance metrics.
  • Maintain compliance with the Quality Management System, including policies, procedures, and standard operating guidelines.
  • Participate in updating QMS documents to stay aligned with national and international healthcare standards.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of quality initiatives using data analysis and performance metrics.
  • Plan, perform, and report on audits focusing on clinical quality, patient safety, clinical governance, patient satisfaction, and healthcare staff credentials.
  • Analyze audit results, identify deficiencies, and initiate corrective and preventive measures.
  • Promote a transparent safety culture encouraging incident reporting and ongoing learning.
  • Drive risk assessments such as Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Hazard Vulnerability Assessment (HVA) for service improvement.
  • Coordinate event reporting, trend analysis, and policy updates based on safety data.
  • Prepare and coordinate reports for committees, leadership, and regulatory agencies including performance dashboards and analysis summaries.
  • Liaise with the Saudi Patient Safety Center for safety culture surveys, data interpretation, and resultant actions.
  • Manage preparations for national and international accreditation processes including gap analyses, staff readiness, survey coordination, and follow-up action plans to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Plan and facilitate training and educational programs on quality assessment, patient safety, risk management, and accreditation standards.
  • Encourage staff participation in continuous quality improvement activities and accreditation efforts.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Medicine from an accredited national or international institution.
  • At least six years of management experience in Quality, Risk, Patient Safety, and Accreditation (e.g., CBAHI, JCIA) within healthcare settings.
  • Strong expertise in Risk Management, Patient Safety, Clinical Governance and Review, Process Management, Data Collection and Analysis, and Quality Systems.
  • Professional certification or licensure in Quality management is required.
  • Proficient in both English and Arabic at a professional working level.
