Job description

Role Overview

We are seeking a Manager or Associate Director skilled in data centre operations and policy to join our rapidly expanding Asia-Pacific team in Singapore. This role supports both client project delivery and business development efforts, partnering closely with clients on issues spanning public policy, regulation, political landscapes, and commercial strategy.

Context and Challenges

The data centre industry in Asia-Pacific is confronting complex regulatory and policy challenges amid soaring demand linked to AI and cloud technologies. Operators face difficulties ensuring returns on substantial capital investments. Regional concerns about data centres' environmental, infrastructural, and community impacts are prompting evolving policies affecting development and operations. Our consultancy assists investors and operators in articulating the sector's value proposition and lobbying for supportive policy frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

You will engage directly with high-level clients, researching and dissecting multifaceted policy and political issues to craft strategic recommendations. Your work will combine in-depth political analysis with strategic guidance to navigate and influence evolving regulatory landscapes.

Professional Development and Team Environment

Our organization promotes a robust intellectual environment conducive to accelerating your career progression. You will have opportunities to contribute meaningfully to company growth and participate in substantive policy debates alongside a growing team.

Candidate Profile

Ideal candidates will have experience relevant to data centre policy, including but not limited to power supply and grid integration, permits and licenses, water management, sustainability, cybersecurity, resilience, and community engagement. We value diverse backgrounds, whether from data centre operations, government, regulatory bodies, consultancy, research organizations, or advisory roles. Candidates with 4 to 9 years of professional experience—reflective of Manager or Associate Director levels—are encouraged to apply, though exceptional cases will be considered individually.

  • Proven expertise in data centre policy and regulatory matters.
  • Strong analytical skills to research complex policy topics and develop clear, structured policy documents.
  • Experience in managerial roles within data centres, consulting firms, government agencies, regulators, think tanks, or industry associations.
  • Demonstrated success managing projects and teams in dynamic, fast-paced settings.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, adaptability, and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse internal and external teams.
  • Commercial insight to identify growth opportunities and propose commercially sound client solutions.
  • Exceptional communication abilities, delivering clear and persuasive advice both verbally and in writing.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in other regional languages such as Mandarin, Korean, Japanese, or Bahasa is a plus but not required.
  • Desirable (but not essential) are connections with policymakers or regulators in at least one Asia-Pacific country relevant to data centre policy.

Application Instructions

Submit your CV along with a cover letter (maximum 600 words) detailing how your experience aligns with this position and discussing key policy and regulatory challenges in Asia-Pacific’s data centre sector by the deadline: Friday, October 30. Your cover letter should also address your motivation for joining our firm, your eligibility to work in Singapore, your potential start date, and salary expectations.
