Role Overview and Responsibilities
- Serve as the principal daily contact for key clients, collaborating closely with the Associate Director to manage relationships.
- Proactively address client inquiries and provide updates about project progress, fostering strong rapport with clients and stakeholders.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for business development within existing and new client networks.
- Prepare and assess monthly management accounts alongside financial analyses for informed decision-making.
- Compile year-end audited financial statements, statutory reports, and consolidated financials for group entities.
- Handle daily bookkeeping tasks covering purchases, sales, bank entries, and payroll journals.
- Conduct reconciliations across bank accounts, customers, suppliers, and intercompany transactions with subsidiaries and associated firms.
- Oversee accounting adjustments ensuring the integrity of financial records.
- Manage the complete Purchase-to-Pay cycle, reviewing supplier accounts and preparing timely payments.
- Compile and finalize UK quarterly VAT returns, process EC Sales and Intrastat statements, and prepare Corporation Tax computations.
- Ensure compliance with UK statutory requirements including VAT, CIS, payroll, and relevant accounting standards and tax laws.
- Provide support during external audits in line with ISAs, offering technical and compliance assistance on client issues.
- Identify and escalate financial, technical, and compliance risks appropriately, upholding the firm's quality control standards.
- Manage assignments within agreed budgets and deadlines, monitor work-in-progress and ensure billing accuracy.
- Track project progress and alert stakeholders about potential budget or deadline overruns.
- Contribute to business growth by participating in bids and new project proposals.
Qualifications and Expertise
- ACA or ACCA certification, or an internationally recognized equivalent qualification.
- Extensive knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP accounting frameworks.
- Demonstrable experience working within a UK accounting environment.
- Thorough understanding of UK VAT, CIS, and payroll compliance.
- Proven ability in accounts preparation and financial statement compilation.
- External audit experience is advantageous.
- Solid grasp of statutory accounts and Corporation Tax obligations.
- Exceptional attention to detail with capacity to manage multiple projects to timely completion.
- Proficient in accounting and financial software, including SAP, IRIS Accounts Production & Corporation Tax, Xero, QuickBooks, Sage 50, Sage Accounts Production, Caseware, Digita, OneSource, and Sage Tax.
