Job Overview
Become a valuable member of the Breast Imaging team at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board by joining as a Band 6 Mammographer. In this role, you will provide expert breast imaging services that prioritize patient care, contributing significantly to the diagnosis and management of breast conditions.
Working within a state-of-the-art symptomatic breast imaging setting, you will perform mammographic imaging and assist with various assessment and interventional procedures. Collaboration with Consultant Radiologists, Breast Care Nurses, and multidisciplinary teams is fundamental to ensure a smooth and effective patient service.
Main Responsibilities
- Conduct high-quality mammography exams, supporting specialized breast imaging and diagnostic activities with a focus on patient safety and comfort.
- Operate independently within your qualifications while serving as a knowledgeable point of contact for fellow staff members.
- Support assessment clinics and aid practitioners during image-guided interventional procedures.
- Engage actively in multidisciplinary health pathways, offering empathetic communication and reassurance to patients during difficult clinical situations.
- Contribute to the organisation of daily clinic operations, quality assurance, and governance processes.
- Participate in audits and initiatives aimed at enhancing the service whilst promoting innovation and best practices.
- Provide mentoring, supervision, and teaching to radiographers, assistant practitioners, and students.
Eligibility and Language
Welsh language skills are preferred but not mandatory, and applicants fluent in Welsh or English are equally encouraged to apply.

Candidate Requirements
- BSc in Radiography coupled with HCPC registration.
- Postgraduate qualification in Mammography or actively pursuing this credential.
- Experience conducting mammography examinations and participating in breast imaging assessments within multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge and commitment to radiation safety regulations (IR(ME)R) and clinical governance.
- Demonstrated compassion in patient care, including support for anxious patients and effective communication of sensitive information.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- Completed or ongoing continuing professional development.
- Experience with interventional breast procedures.
- Involvement in audits, quality assurance, risk management, and driving service enhancements.
- Skills in supervising staff and mentoring, contributing to workload management.
