About the Role
Join the Parkland on the Glen team in Mississauga as a Maintenance Worker where your compassionate, honest, and professional approach will contribute to creating comfortable living environments for residents. This full-time onsite role involves routine and preventive maintenance duties to ensure safe and high-quality facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular general maintenance and scheduled preventive upkeep on buildings, grounds, and equipment.
- Respond promptly to repair requests involving structures and equipment, including patching and painting damaged walls.
- Handle assembly, delivery, and relocation of furniture and equipment as needed.
- Assist the Plant, Building & Safety Manager with inspections and implementation of preventive maintenance programs.
- Use the PM Worx software to manage preventive maintenance schedules and work orders.
- Request and maintain appropriate inventory of materials, parts, and tools, ensuring proper storage and usage control.
- Complete and document internal and external facility inspections and audits.
- Participate in emergency response drills and disaster planning exercises.
- Collaborate with fire and safety policies by training staff on fire safety techniques, coordinating fire drills, and evaluating their effectiveness.
- Prioritize health and safety standards to protect employees, residents, and visitors at all times.
- Perform any other duties as assigned to support facility operations.
Candidate Profile
- High school diploma or equivalent educational background is required.
- Between 1 to 2 years of experience in construction or building maintenance.
- Working knowledge of WHMIS and Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
- Advanced proficiency in English; additional languages are viewed as an advantage.
- Certifications in trades such as Carpentry, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Plumbing, or Electrical considered beneficial.
- Familiarity with blueprint reading is an asset.
- Must be able to provide a clear Criminal Record Check and, if applicable, a Vulnerable Sector Check prior to employment.
- Strong commitment to enhancing the healthcare sector and improving seniors' living accommodations and services.
