Maintenance Technician

Job Overview

We are seeking a Maintenance Technician to become part of an engineering team at a large-scale, highly automated distribution warehouse in Bedford. This role involves maintaining and troubleshooting advanced material handling and automation equipment to support one of the UK's top retail fulfillment operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform both reactive and preventative maintenance tasks on automated warehouse machinery.
• Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults using effective fault-finding techniques.
• Repair and maintain conveyor systems, motors, sensors, and control panels to ensure operational efficiency.
• Contribute to maximizing system uptime within a fast-moving distribution center environment.
• Collaborate with engineering colleagues to reduce equipment downtime and enhance system reliability.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Possession of NVQ Level 3, an apprenticeship, or an equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• Previous experience working as a Maintenance Engineer, Electrical Engineer, or Automation Engineer.
• Strong capabilities in electrical fault diagnosis; beneficial to have mechanical expertise as well.
• Experience with conveyor systems, automated machinery, or production equipment is essential.
• Ability to work confidently within a Panama shift schedule.
• Must be authorized to work in the United Kingdom without the need for sponsorship.

Additional Information

• Location: Bedford (postcode MK439AA).
• Salary package: £50,000 per annum plus on-target earnings and additional benefits.
• Shift pattern: Five days on, two days off, working 8-hour shifts covering both days and nights; role does not follow a typical Monday to Friday daytime schedule.
