Maintenance Technician

About the Role

The Tasman, a Luxury Collection Hotel in Hobart, is situated close to Hobart's waterfront and popular local attractions. This stunning hotel combines Modern Contemporary, Art Deco, and Heritage designs with 152 elegantly furnished guest rooms featuring unique local artwork. We are seeking a Maintenance Technician to support the ongoing upkeep and presentation of the hotel to ensure a safe, efficient, and inviting environment for guests and staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and upkeep across guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas.
• Implement preventative maintenance schedules to sustain performance and safety of the hotel’s infrastructure.
• Promptly address maintenance requests, prioritizing tasks to meet operational needs.
• Troubleshoot and resolve basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and mechanical problems.
• Assist with room inspections to ensure compliance with brand and safety standards.
• Maintain machinery and equipment to reduce downtime and optimize function.
• Coordinate with external contractors and service providers as necessary.
• Ensure adherence to Workplace Health & Safety regulations and hotel policies.
• Keep accurate records of maintenance activities and complete required administrative duties.
• Maintain exceptional standards in presentation, safety, and operational excellence throughout the property.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum of one year experience in maintenance, trades assistance, facilities, hotel maintenance, or a handyperson role.
• Proven ability to conduct general repairs and preventative maintenance across various building systems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to efficiently discover and fix issues.
• Organized, capable of balancing multiple competing priorities effectively.
• Hands-on, meticulous, and dedicated to producing high-quality workmanship.
• Able to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a team.
• Familiarity with Workplace Health & Safety standards and safe work procedures.
• Experience in hotel, hospitality, commercial, or facilities maintenance is highly valued.
• Relevant trade qualifications, licenses, or certifications are considered a plus.
• Must hold full legal working rights in Australia.
• Willingness to work on a rotating schedule including weekends and public holidays as necessary.
