Maintenance Technician

Overview

The role of a Mechanical Maintenance Technician is vital in ensuring the uninterrupted operation, safety, and durability of industrial equipment and machinery. The technician is responsible for timely troubleshooting, performing preventive maintenance, repairing components, and adhering to safety and environmental guidelines to maintain efficient production processes.

Primary Duties

• Identify mechanical faults through diagnostic procedures, visual checks, and monitoring the functioning of machines.
• Carry out routine maintenance tasks including lubrication, inspection, and calibration to avoid equipment breakdowns and reduce downtime.
• Take apart machinery to repair or replace defective parts, utilizing hand and power tools effectively.
• Support the installation, alignment, and calibration of new mechanical systems per manufacturer instructions.
• Maintain precise records of all maintenance work, machine histories, and parts consumption.
• Manage inventory of spare parts by forecasting needs and assisting with procurement to ensure availability.
• Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental protocols, such as appropriate use of personal protective equipment and lockout/tagout standards.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

• Solid knowledge of mechanical principles, hydraulics, pneumatics, and operation of related utility equipment like pumps, compressors, and HVAC systems.
• Competency in interpreting mechanical diagrams, blueprints, and operational manuals for effective troubleshooting.
• Skilled in performing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to identify and resolve persistent equipment failures.
• Physical endurance to stand for extended times, handle heavy materials, and function in diverse manufacturing environments.
• Educational background including an ITI certification, Diploma, or Degree in Mechanical or Maintenance Engineering coupled with pertinent experience.
