Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated Maintenance Technician for our afternoon shift who will play a critical role in maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting equipment in our plant operations. This position involves using power tools, maintaining conveyor systems and grinders, supporting production lines, and ensuring the work environment is safe and well-organized. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the maintenance and production teams to maintain operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance tasks such as greasing and replacing bearings, tracking and lacing conveyor belts, and operating power tools including drills, Sawzall, and cutting torches.
• Change filters, troubleshoot, and repair equipment including glass plant primary and secondary grinders and screens.
• Clean beneath conveyor belts, OCC separators, glass breaker screens, and around baling areas as required.
• Operate and navigate touchscreens for optical sorters, container lines, fiber lines, and the glass plant.
• Work collaboratively with maintenance and production teams to ensure plant operates safely and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area free from safety hazards at all times.
• Adhere to safe work practices consistently.
• Perform physical tasks such as heavy lifting and pulling.
• Complete required safety and operational training, such as forklift, snorkel lift, fall protection, and confined space entry courses.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Prior experience in maintenance and repair work within an industrial or production setting.
• Valid driver's license.
• Demonstrated excellent attendance record.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, accepting direction when necessary.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Physical stamina to stand or bend for extended periods and perform manual labor.
• Capability to bend, push, pull, and lift objects weighing 50 lbs or more.
• Post-secondary education in mechanical technology is considered an asset.
