Maintenance Technician

About the Role

The Talbot Hotel Cork, part of the Talbot Collection and recognized as one of the Best Places to Work in Hospitality 2026, is looking to hire an experienced Maintenance Technician for full-time employment. This role involves managing and executing a preventative maintenance program aimed at both internal and external hotel facilities, ensuring a safe environment and maintaining high repair standards throughout the property.

Key Responsibilities

• Report punctually and in full uniform presenting a professional image to guests.
• Follow the company’s clocking procedures and check shift handover notes for special tasks.
• Manage maintenance schedules and budgets effectively, prioritizing daily maintenance tasks in coordination with management.
• Execute planned maintenance and address property upkeep including external areas like the carpark and surrounding hotel grounds.
• Maintain compliance certificates and ensure all legal maintenance requirements are met and up to date.
• Log daily maintenance work and manage an efficient repairs reporting system.
• Respond promptly to emergencies and run a preventive maintenance program to minimize future repairs.
• Deliver services with attention to detail and a high standard of quality within the hotel.

Health & Safety

• Maintain exemplary health and safety standards at all times.
• Keep storage and work areas clean, organized, and safe.
• Report equipment faults and any safety issues immediately.
• Engage proactively with health and safety protocols, reporting and acting on incidents or hazards.
• Complete incident reports for staff and guests as required.
• Work in a manner that minimizes risks to self and others.

Personal Development

• Keep mandatory training up to date.
• Regularly evaluate own work performance and identify areas for professional growth.
• Attend all required internal or external training sessions punctually.
