Maintenance Planning Engineer

Job Purpose

This role requires planning, scheduling, managing, and coordinating all maintenance activities, both scheduled and unscheduled, to ensure continuous airworthiness of the airline's fleet and third-party aircraft. The incumbent develops short-term and long-term maintenance plans collaboratively with line management and relevant internal teams.

The position aims to uphold the highest standards of safety, cost efficiency, and aircraft dispatch reliability for the assigned fleet and contracted entities through efficient maintenance planning and coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive maintenance plans following Approved Maintenance Programs and CAMO engineering documents for the assigned fleet.
• Use the company's MIS (AMOS) to forecast maintenance activities promptly and cost-effectively.
• Prepare detailed work packages including preloads, Gantt charts, and other necessary support materials for maintenance executions.
• Develop and coordinate line & base maintenance, workshop, and third-party work packages, ensuring alignment with company manuals and procedures.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to create and maintain maintenance capacity plans.
• Manage scheduled and unscheduled maintenance considering timing parameters, cost, business needs, and unforeseen events including emergencies.
• Generate reports comparing man-hour forecasts versus actual utilization on monthly, quarterly, and yearly bases.
• Provide feedback to CAMO engineering to improve maintenance documentation efficiency.
• Coordinate with Engineering Procurement to confirm availability of tools, spare parts, and components before scheduling maintenance activities.
• Report completed maintenance events within company-defined timeframes.
• Perform post major check analyses, including A-checks.
• Monitor task completion relative to engineers’ check requests in compliance with policies and regulations.
• Schedule airworthiness directives compliance, including non-mandatory service bulletins and modifications from CAMO engineering.
• Plan and schedule defect resolution working closely with the MCC department.
• Assist technically in aircraft lease and sublease evaluations.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Finance, and Legal departments to ensure procedural and regulatory compliance during lease processes.
• Prepare and coordinate short-term maintenance activities with line maintenance and MCC teams.
• Plan, create, verify, and coordinate third-party maintenance work packages.

Qualifications

• A university degree in Aircraft Engineering, Aeronautical, Aerospace, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
• Project Management certification or equivalent practical experience.
• Additional certifications in Cost Control, Compliance, Budgeting, and Quality Assurance are advantageous, some may be required.
• Proficiency in technology tools and systems including Microsoft Office and MRO systems.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including reporting and presentation abilities.
• Fluency in English is essential.

Experience

• At least 5 years’ experience in the aviation sector, with a minimum of 4 years as a Planning Engineer or in a related role; experience with Airbus A320 aircraft is preferred.
• Familiarity with aircraft planning systems, procedures, and documentation such as MPD, MRB, AMP, and relevant CAMO regulations related to aircraft maintenance programs.
• Comprehensive understanding of aviation regulations including CAR-M, CAR-145, PART 21, and company manuals like TPM.
• Knowledgeable about aircraft systems and components.
• Awareness of relevant civil aviation authority rules regarding engineering maintenance, policies, manuals, licensing, and quality assurance.
• Demonstrated working knowledge of EASA Part 145, Part 21, and Subpart M requirements.
• Capable of collaborating in a dynamic team environment with professionals handling heavy workloads and ad-hoc tasks.
• Strong time management skills.
• Experience with Airline Flight Operations and standard regulations.
• Understanding of Quality Assurance, Safety, and Audit functions related to maintenance.
• High accuracy with focus on both details and outcomes.
• Cost-conscious and adept at problem-solving and informed decision-making.
• Ability to contribute effectively towards business strategies and meet performance KPIs.
