Job Overview
Join the Hilton team at Chateau on the Park Christchurch as a Maintenance Manager where you hold full responsibility for managing all engineering operations pertaining to the hotel's systems, plants, and equipment. You play a critical part in utilizing the Property, Operating, Maintenance, and Energy Consumption (POMEC) budget efficiently to meet guest needs while safeguarding the property and its assets. Beyond maintenance, you foster a welcoming hospitality atmosphere by contributing to memorable guest experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily maintenance activities ensuring adherence to service and equipment schedules.
- Coordinate maintenance priorities with Housekeeping to address guest rooms and public areas effectively.
- Develop and enforce systems ensuring health and safety for guests, team members, and hotel infrastructure.
- Ensure compliance with local statutory regulations through active communication with relevant agencies.
- Prepare and manage maintenance and capital budgets for engineering projects.
- Conduct daily inspections around the property and execute lift emergency procedures when necessary.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical equipment to maintain operational integrity.
- Maintain positive relations with internal departments and external partners.
- Oversee upkeep of all fixtures and fittings to guarantee safety, acting swiftly on hazards.
- Design and manage emergency response programs enhancing hotel readiness.
- Implement and oversee energy conservation initiatives to reduce costs.
- Manage renovation projects by soliciting bids, defining costs and scope, and supervising contractors to ensure quality and cost-efficiency.
- Undertake special projects as assigned, including introducing environmentally friendly technologies.
- Monitor Engineering Department KPIs and take corrective actions to improve outcomes relating to equipment, audits, and productivity.
- Handle team-related functions including recruitment, performance reviews, training, career development, disciplinary procedures, and motivation.
Qualifications and Skills
- Extensive expertise in building management and engineering practices.
- Relevant trade qualification or equivalent experience.
- Familiarity with budgeting processes and basic accounting principles.
- Strong leadership abilities and proven experience managing teams.
- Excellent communication and customer service mindset.
- Ability to work independently, manage pressure, and adapt to varying work scenarios.
- Advanced computer proficiency with software relevant to the role.
- Excellent grooming and a positive professional attitude.
Preferred Attributes
- First Aid certification is advantageous.
- Further qualifications in engineering or related trades are desirable.
