Role Overview
We seek a Maintenance Fitter for our Hamilton Manufacturing team, working the afternoon shift from 3:30pm to midnight, Monday through Friday. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will maintain and repair equipment, facilities, and infrastructure to ensure optimal operation, reliability, and safety, directly supporting production to meet deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance according to planned timetables
- Quickly respond to equipment breakdowns and carry out repairs
- Diagnose machine faults and suggest improvements for enhanced reliability
- Document all maintenance activities using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Contribute to Lean, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Engage in Practical Problem Solving (PPS) and root cause analyses
- Generate purchase orders and obtain quotations for mechanical work as needed
- Collaborate closely with supervisors, production personnel, and external contractors
- Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient working environment
Candidate Profile
- Trade-qualified fitter with practical experience enjoying hands-on maintenance in a dynamic manufacturing context
- Forward-thinking and methodical problem solver committed to equipment reliability
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- Technical certification in Fitting, Diagnostics, Maintenance, or related disciplines at Level 4
- Minimum of three years’ experience as a qualified tradesperson within manufacturing
- Strong mechanical fault diagnosis skills
- Experience with plastics injection molding machines, hydraulics, pneumatics, machining, or fabrication is an advantage
- Familiarity with Practical Problem Solving/root cause analysis and Lean methodologies
- Ability to manage time effectively and work independently
- Competent IT skills; proficiency with Excel or SAP is beneficial
- Excellent communication skills and meticulous attention to detail
