About the Role
Aurum Data Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mainframe Engineer to join their team at Knowledge City, Hyderabad. This full-time, office-based position focuses on providing Level 3 production support for critical mainframe applications. Candidates must demonstrate at least 10 years of experience and possess strong communication skills in English.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver L3 support for mainframe applications and critical business workflows, ensuring uptime and operational continuity.
- Diagnose and resolve complex incidents within established Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Conduct root cause analyses and implement long-term solutions to prevent recurring problems.
- Engage in incident, problem, and change management processes.
- Support production deployments and validate post-deployment system performance.
- Work collaboratively with global teams to maintain service stability.
- Examine application logs to detect defects and coordinate remediation efforts with developers.
- Lead continuous improvement efforts aimed at operational excellence.
- Develop and update support documentation, knowledge articles, and standard operating procedures.
- Mentor less experienced staff and facilitate knowledge sharing sessions.
- Communicate promptly with client stakeholders regarding incidents and their resolutions.
- Utilize AI-driven tools to enhance productivity and streamline support workflows.
Technical and Professional Requirements
- Extensive hands-on expertise with mainframe technologies including COBOL, JCL, DB2, SQL, AS400, APPTUNE, ISPW, CONTROL-M on z/OS, TSO ISPF, SDSF, GDG, IBM Utilities, MQ Series, Xpediter, WLM, RACF, and JSF.
- Proven experience providing L2/L3 production support.
- Deep knowledge of incident, problem, change management, and release/deployment support within SLA-focused environments.
- Practical experience with AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT or similar generative AI platforms to boost engineering efficiency, including AI-assisted code analysis, documentation, and testing tools.
- Preferred skills include working with international clients and distributed teams, familiarity with Agile methodologies and Azure DevOps, exposure to SonarQube and quality assurance practices, and strong analytical and decision-making skills.
- Comfortable participating in major incident management calls and interacting with executive-level stakeholders.

Educational Background
Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, information technology, or a related technical field.
