Job Overview

Emerson is offering an opportunity for a skilled Machinist at its Brantford, Ontario facility. As a vital member of the Operations team, you will engage in a variety of machining tasks in a collaborative, safety-conscious environment, demonstrating flexibility and a solutions-driven approach.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the cylinder shop lead, manufacturing engineer, and supervisor to safely address machining challenges.
• Operate multiple machines including a 5-station turret lathe, custom and automatic thread rolling machines, HAAS Mill, manual vertical mills, HAAS ST10 and ST20Y lathes, aluminum chop saw, metal band saws, and manual machines to produce quality components according to specifications.
• Program CNC machinery manually without CAM software and perform 5-axis milling operations.
• Handle precision tasks such as tube facing and use calibrated analog and digital gauges for part measurements.
• Conduct general maintenance checks and replenishments of fluids, tooling, and supplies.
• Perform semi-repetitive, fast-paced manufacturing activities and adapt processes to maintain production during breakdowns.
• Carry out finishing tasks including buffing, grinding, and deburring.
• Manage material handling and organize raw materials storage, including occasional heavy lifting.
• Perform other related physical and demanding work duties as assigned.

Candidate Profile

• Certified as a General Machinist with additional Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Certification; possession of a Red Seal and Journeyman ticket or Certificate of Qualification is mandatory.
• Demonstrated ability to program CNC machines and adjust tooling and blade setups.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting both metric and imperial technical prints and able to modify stored machine programs for new designs.
• Maintains a clean and organized workplace during and after shifts.
• Proactive and positive approach to problem-solving, with flexibility and teamwork skills.
• Effective communication skills, with adherence to safety protocols and company health and safety policies.
• Authorized to work in Canada without current or future need for sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School diploma is advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits

Pay range is $29.36 to $37.54 per hour, commensurate with skills, experience, and qualifications.
