Logistics Technician

Role Overview

As a Logistics Technician stationed at our Canberra Data Center, you will be responsible for performing cycle audits, managing inbound and outbound deliveries, coordinating security escorts for third-party service providers, and maintaining accurate records of logistics activities. Team and Infrastructure

You will join the Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team, which supports critical infrastructure powering Microsoft's cloud services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and Azure. Key Responsibilities

• Execute assigned logistics tasks, escalating issues promptly during high workload periods or urgent situations.
• Collaborate with suppliers to initiate and process warranty claims for faulty hardware, managing packaging, shipment, and receipt of Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) items while adhering to all Service Level Agreements.
• Apply knowledge of procedures and sound judgment to complete assignments with minimal supervision.
• Maintain awareness of how your work impacts overall ticket, inventory, and asset management activities.
• Keep accurate and current records in inventory management systems such as configuration management databases and asset repositories.
• Conduct thorough physical inventory tracking and staging operations.
• Assist in identifying and reporting inventory discrepancies for reconciliation.
• Perform secure destruction of data bearing devices according to Microsoft policies and SLAs as required.
• Alert management about stock shortages and escalate issues appropriately.
• Comply rigorously with security and data management policies and procedures.
• Demonstrate Microsoft’s culture and values through your work and interactions.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma plus at least 1 year of experience in warehouse or supply chain work within IT, inventory management, retail, or related sectors or equivalent experience.

Security and Screening Requirements

• Must pass Microsoft Cloud background check at hiring and every two years thereafter.
• Verification of Australian citizenship through valid passport is mandatory to meet government security requirements.
• Possibility of enhanced security vetting through Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (NV1/2, PV clearance).

Preferred Experience

• Over 2 years in IT-related warehouse/supply chain or logistics roles handling heavy-load equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or chassis lifts in large organizations, or equivalent experience.
