The employer is an expanding enterprise specialized in supplying mining chemicals and industrial products, serving Tanzania and the broader East African Community mining sector.
Role Overview
The Supply Chain & Logistics Coordinator will play a critical role in daily logistics and supply chain operations. The individual will organize inland transportation within Tanzania, manage trucking arrangements, collaborate with transporters, warehouses, and clients, track shipments, secure Proof of Delivery (POD), and ensure all documentation is properly maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Arrange trucking services by coordinating with transporter companies for moving goods domestically.
- Collect and evaluate quotations, pricing, and availability from transporters.
- Plan and allocate trucks in alignment with warehouse, customer, and delivery needs.
- Collaborate with transporters, drivers, warehouse staff, customers, and internal departments to guarantee timely dispatch and delivery.
- Monitor shipments actively and escalate any transport delays, vehicle breakdowns, or issues promptly.
- Keep detailed records concerning trucks, drivers, delivery dates, destinations, transport companies, and agreed rates.
- Obtain and file PODs, delivery notes, and all pertinent transport-related documents.
- Contribute to assessing transporter service quality, reliability, rates, and overall performance.
- Ensure that necessary approval documents are secured before dispatching shipments.
Candidate Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Procurement, Business Administration, or related disciplines.
- Between two and four years of experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain management, operations, or administrative roles.
- Knowledge of Tanzanian transportation providers, logistics routes, and delivery coordination is advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and email communication.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in both English and Swahili.
- Excellent organization, coordination, documentation, and record-keeping abilities.
- Capability to perform under pressure and react swiftly to urgent delivery demands.
- Effective problem-solving skills with the competence to detect delays or issues and escalate as needed.
- Dependable, responsible, and proactive attitude with minimal supervision required.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment.
