Job description

About LEAP

LEAP is a global leader in Legal Practice Management Solutions and a part of ATI, one of the largest international LegalTech corporations. With over 30 years of innovation, LEAP offers software that supports more than 71,000 lawyers and their teams in small and medium law firms across multiple countries. LEAP fosters a vibrant, fast-growing environment with over 1000 dedicated professionals worldwide, including locations in Australia, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Poland, and New Zealand.

Litigation Team Overview

The Litigation division at LEAP specializes in developing software tailored specifically for litigation lawyers. This cross-disciplinary group includes legal experts, software engineers, designers, and product specialists collaborating to create effective, high-impact tools that mirror real-world litigation processes. Their products cover the entire litigation lifecycle, from matter creation and court documentation to AI-enabled drafting and client reporting tools. The Litigation Lawyer role is pivotal in bringing NSW litigation expertise into product design, ensuring accuracy, usefulness, and practical value.

Role Responsibilities

  • Partner with product managers to identify and prioritize litigation-related features based on client input, prevailing market conditions, and business objectives.
  • Provide in-depth legal knowledge regarding workflows, court procedures, and documentation to inform precise and applicable product development.
  • Conduct thorough testing and assessments of software to verify its effectiveness in real legal environments.
  • Engage directly with clients for training, feedback collection, and identifying workflow enhancement opportunities.
  • Contribute to refining software functionalities to minimize inefficiencies and optimize litigation matter management.
  • Stay informed on the latest trends and changes in litigation practice to guide future product evolution.

Candidate Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience in litigation, with comprehensive exposure to NSW litigation and preferably some experience in federal litigation.
  • Proficiency in managing various contentious legal matters, with solid understanding of litigation procedures, court workings, document flow, and managing cases from start to finish.
  • Strong drafting capability coupled with sound legal judgment, able to translate complex legal processes into straightforward, functional workflows.
  • Willingness or prior experience collaborating within interdisciplinary teams comprising legal, product, and engineering professionals in a technology-focused company.
  • Enthusiasm for engaging with clients directly, gathering their input, and enhancing litigation workflows.
  • An active interest in legal technology, process automation, and the future trajectory of legal services.

Personal Attributes

LEAP embraces diversity and inclusivity, encouraging candidates who may not meet all criteria but demonstrate potential to apply. The company values individuals motivated to contribute meaningfully, work collaboratively, and learn continuously.

Benefits and Culture

  • Your contributions have meaningful impact, helping legal professionals assist communities effectively.
  • Gain autonomy and trust to influence significant projects and decisions rather than being a minor component of a large operation.
  • Collaborate with passionate, genuine colleagues who enjoy their work.
  • Flexible and hybrid work options, with preference for candidates based in Sydney but adaptable to personal working arrangements.
  • Opportunities for career growth shaped by your interests and industry developments, guided by a founder with over three decades in legal technology.
  • Enjoy social events, celebrations, sports teams, and recreational activities such as sailing and yacht events.
  • Comprehensive wellbeing support including an annual paid wellbeing day, complimentary gym access, corporate dental coverage, and weekly office massages.
  • Work out of a modern office featuring catered weekly meals, a fully stocked kitchen, and an on-site barista.
  • Exclusive support for home ownership through the LEAP Home program assisting staff in purchasing primary residences.
