Job description
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Linux Server Administrator with 3 to 14 years of expertise in managing server environments. This role requires handling both technical duties and client-facing responsibilities, acting as a Single Point of Contact (SPOC). The candidate will be involved in physical and virtual server installation, maintenance, and decommissioning, with strong proficiency in Linux OS and hypervisor technologies like XEN and VMware.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide third-level technical support adhering to customer Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
- Manage routine compute operations including event management, incident handling, service requests, change requests, and root cause analysis following ITIL best practices.
- Perform server installation, maintenance, monitoring, decommissioning, and perform advanced configurations beyond automation capabilities.
- Handle storage operations primarily using NetApp NFS.
- Oversee package and repository management as well as operating system image maintenance.
- Administer Azure Active Directory (AAD), managing virtual networks, subnets, and security groups.
- Implement VPNs and ExpressRoute network connections.
- Configure Azure backup solutions and site recovery processes.
- Document services and tasks, conduct testing and quality control, and facilitate knowledge transfer within the team.
Required Skills and Experience
- Extensive hands-on experience in Linux server administration and management.
- Proven capability to act as a SPOC with prior client handling experience.
- Strong knowledge of hypervisor operations, including XEN and VMware platforms.
- Competence with Logical Volume Management (LVM), DNS, LDAP, and IPTables.
- Excellent troubleshooting abilities for resolving server outages.
- Experience managing physical servers.
- Demonstrated experience working with at least two cloud platforms, such as Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Mandatory expertise in Pacemaker clustering for senior-level resources.
- Familiarity with central infrastructure services—security groups, RPM, Rsync, Mail, Active Directory, Chef automation, Nagios monitoring, repository management—is an advantage.
- Capability to transfer technical knowledge to second-level support teams.
Additional Information
The role is based in Hyderabad and requires on-site presence. Candidates must be graduates and should be able to manage customer interactions effectively while delivering high-quality technical support.
