Position Details

This full-time, permanent role is based at the Bedford Institute of Oceanography in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. The work schedule includes five shifts per week, totaling 32.5 paid hours, during the day shift from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The hourly wage is $17.00. Multiple vacancies are available for team members to help maintain safe, clean, and organized surroundings in the facility.

Key Duties

• Execute general cleaning and housekeeping tasks throughout the facility.
• Dust, sweep, mop, vacuum floors and surfaces.
• Sanitize washrooms, offices, and communal areas.
• Manage waste and recycling disposal properly.
• Replenish cleaning and washroom supplies as needed.
• Ensure assigned areas remain tidy and orderly.
• Adhere to prescribed cleaning schedules, safety and sanitation protocols.
• Operate cleaning equipment and supplies safely.
• Communicate maintenance or safety hazards promptly to supervisors.
• Cooperate with colleagues to uphold facility cleanliness standards.
• Comply with site security and access protocols.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Previous cleaning or housekeeping experience is advantageous.
• Capable of working independently and collaboratively.

• Able to follow instructions, procedures, and safety guidelines diligently.
• Physically capable of performing the job requirements safely.

• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain Reliability Status security clearance due to site and governmental standards.
