Job description

Position Overview

This full-time role at Weill Cornell Medicine - Qatar within the Health Sciences Library focuses on guiding and supporting research data management throughout the research lifecycle. The incumbent will promote transparent and interoperable data sharing practices, provide support on data visualization and mining, conduct bibliometric and citation analytics, and ensure proper data archival in the institutional repository.

Key Duties

  • Advocate and implement open data principles and interoperable data management to enhance research transparency and reuse.
  • Develop and maintain metadata ontologies to facilitate discovery and tracking of research datasets.
  • Assist researchers with data visualization and mining techniques for optimized data use.
  • Perform bibliometric, altmetric, and citation analyses to provide insights into research impact enhancement.
  • Verify and upload data into the institutional repository adhering to archival and FAIR data standards.
  • Aggregate and analyze library usage statistics such as taxonomy efficiency and web traffic data.
  • Design and deliver educational programs and outreach on emerging data management tools and best practices.
  • Maintain and update documentation including library guides, newsletters, tutorials, and policies related to data management and preservation.
  • Evaluate the relevance of library collections and contribute to publication services.
  • Stay informed on trends including Open Science, data ethics, AI-assisted workflows, and health librarianship and share this knowledge within the institution.
  • Collaborate with other library teams to support institutional goals.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Master’s degree in Library Science (ALA accredited), Information Science, Data Science, or related quantitative field.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in academic libraries or clinical research supporting the research lifecycle.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Advanced expertise with Integrated Library Systems, open access tools, and library technologies.
  • Comprehensive understanding of current clinical and biomedical research data management.
  • Proficiency in metadata standards such as Dublin Core, DataCite Schema, and DDI.
  • Experience with data management and analytical platforms including DMPTool, GitHub, Jupyter Notebooks, Power BI, and R or Python.
  • Strong multitasking and project management skills under tight deadlines.
  • Customer-oriented service approach combined with excellent organizational capabilities.
  • Detail-oriented with effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within teams.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office applications.
