Role Overview

The Liability Underwriter will specialize in Aged and Community Care products within the Liability team. Responsibilities include:

  • Underwriting new business and renewals for Liability, Professional Indemnity, and Management Liability lines adhering to Pen's underwriting guidelines.
  • Evaluating risks by analyzing broker submissions, insured operations, risk control measures, financial status, and relevant policies or certifications.
  • Using underwriting expertise to assess risks, analyze claims history, and make pricing and coverage decisions on new and existing Liability accounts.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong broker relationships to generate new business and enhance renewal retention.
  • Supporting process improvements and efficiencies within the team.
  • Collaborating with underwriters from other product lines to reinforce broker partnerships and pursue growth opportunities.

Candidate Profile

Successful candidates should embody a proactive and positive approach and possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Minimum of two years underwriting experience, ideally within Liability, Financial Lines, or Management Liability sectors.
  • Efficient time management, organization, and prioritization capabilities.
  • Ability to perform effectively within a team setting.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • High analytical aptitude, problem solving, and attention to details.
  • Demonstrated relationship-building skills with brokers, agents, and clients.
  • Sound judgment in risk evaluation and decision-making within delegated authorities.
  • Solid knowledge of Australian insurance regulatory and compliance frameworks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
