Lecturer Cookery

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic lecturer or qualified professional to teach Cookery Level 4 NZC and U-Skills Cafe Skills programmes at our Wairarapa Campus in Masterton, Wellington. This full-time position (40 hours per week) operates Monday to Friday and requires the successful candidate to be a qualified chef holding at least a NZ Certificate in Cookery Level 4 or equivalent, preferably with practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver hands-on practical teaching and mentorship to individual students and groups.
• Foster student motivation and growth through personalized learning facilitation.
• Collaborate with a dynamic team and utilize fully developed academic resources and assessments under academic leadership.

Skills and Experience

• Possess relevant cookery industry qualifications, specifically minimum NZ Certificate in Cookery Level 4 or equivalent.
• Experience in hospitality including barista skills, stock management, and ordering processes.
• Demonstrated tertiary education delivery or at least five years of industry experience, including training and supervising staff at a senior level.
• Desirable qualifications include NZ Certificate in Adult Literacy & Numeracy Education (NZCALNE), NZ Certificate in Adult Tertiary Teaching (NZCAT), or unit 4098 work-based assessor certification, or progress towards them.

Additional Requirements

• Applicants must hold New Zealand residency or possess a valid New Zealand work visa.
• Completion of New Zealand Police Vetting compliant with the Children’s Act 2014 is mandatory.
