Lead Structural Engineer - Airport Infrastructure

About the Role

WSP is looking for a highly qualified Principal Structural Engineer to provide technical leadership in the design and delivery of airport and aviation infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia. With over 15 years of expertise, the successful candidate will manage complex projects involving airport terminals, aviation facilities, bridges, steel structure assessments, and retrofits within operational aviation environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design and execution phases of significant airport and aviation infrastructure projects at all stages.
• Offer expert guidance on the design of airport terminals, concourses, support facilities, and both landside and airside structures.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary designs and collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure seamless integration.
• Review and approve structural calculations, technical reports, specifications, and design documentation.
• Ensure adherence to project criteria, compliance with international codes and standards, and established quality management practices.
• Contribute to project scheduling, resource planning, and delivery to align with project goals.
• Mentor and provide technical support to junior and mid-level structural engineering staff.
• Engage in design reviews, value engineering, and technical workshops to optimize project outcomes.
• Collaborate with project directors and discipline leads to guarantee project success.
• Assist in the preparation of technical proposals, bids, and client presentations when needed.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering is mandatory, with a preference for a Master’s degree.
• Extensive experience (15+ years) in structural engineering focused on airport and aviation infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrated ability to design and deliver complex airport terminals and related aviation structures.
• Proven leadership experience managing structural engineering teams on large-scale, multidisciplinary projects.
• Strong familiarity with international structural design codes and standards.
• Experience in a top-tier engineering consultancy environment.
• Professional accreditation such as Chartered Engineer status is an advantage.
• Experience with projects in the Middle East region is favorable.
