Lead Software Engineer, Java

Overview

Join JPMorgan Chase as a Lead Software Engineer within the Asset and Wealth Management division. This role plays a vital role in an agile team dedicated to innovating, developing, and delivering market-leading technology products that are secure, scalable, and reliable. You will be a key contributor responsible for designing and implementing critical technical solutions spanning multiple domains to support business goals.

Responsibilities

• Create innovative software solutions; design, develop and troubleshoot complex technical issues with an ability to think creatively beyond standard methods.
• Produce secure, high-quality production code and perform thorough code reviews and debugging of peer contributions.
• Champion enterprise-approved AI-assisted engineering techniques to enhance code quality, speed delivery, and optimize operational performance, including AI-enhanced code reviews, test acceleration, and root cause analysis.
• Leverage software development lifecycle (SDLC) tools combined with AI-assisted automation to maximize automation benefits.
• Identify and implement automation or elimination of recurring problems to boost software reliability and operational stability.
• Lead evaluation meetings with vendors, startups, and internal teams, critically assessing architectural designs and technical competencies for system integration suitability.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Formal education or certification related to software engineering with a minimum of 5 years of applied experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or an equivalent field.
• Proven experience in system design, application development, testing, and ensuring operational stability.
• Advanced expertise in one or more programming languages.
• Proficient hands-on coding skills in Java and frameworks such as Spring and Spring Boot.
• Experience leading the use of AI-based software development tools and guiding teams on validating AI results for accuracy, efficiency, and security.
• Comprehensive understanding of responsible AI integration in engineering workflows, with awareness of data privacy, secure data handling, and compliance with security and resiliency standards.
• Thorough knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle and agile methods including CI/CD processes, resilience, and security practices.
• Strong familiarity with financial services industry technology stacks and IT systems.
• Practical experience with cloud-native architectures.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with AWS cloud technologies such as ECS, S3, Lambda.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, particularly Terraform.
