Lead Product Manager - AI Enablement

Role Impact and Responsibilities

This is an exceptional opportunity to influence how an entire technology organization evolves in the AI age. Rather than delivering standalone AI capabilities, you will focus on developing shared platforms and operational frameworks that enable AI-native product delivery at Xero. Your work will encompass building AI tools that empower teams to accelerate development with proper safeguards, creating secure and efficient model usage gateways, and developing agents to reduce operational inefficiencies.

In this position, you will oversee initiatives across the full product delivery lifecycle, blending strategic planning, execution, and driving measurable impact on organizational practices. You will guide product and team decision-making, bridge activities across different development stages, and mentor colleagues to cultivate a robust AI product methodology. Aligned with Xero’s value to challenge norms, you will set ambitious objectives for the team and rethink problems rather than simply solve them.

Team and Collaboration

This team orchestrates how products integrate with Xero’s broader AI strategy and goals, managing the tools and work practices supporting thousands of employees delivering value. You will collaborate closely with Engineering, Security, Data, and multiple other departments to ensure cohesive and aligned decision-making throughout the company.

Initial Focus Areas

• Creating and expanding the shared capabilities underpinning Xero’s AI-native delivery approach.
• Uniting stakeholders to align strategies and priorities, establishing performance metrics for adoption, delivery speed, cost, quality, and technology health.
• Publishing quarterly roadmaps, operating models, and governance structures for key initiatives.
• Progressing top-value workflows from pilot stages to repeatable adoption across teams.

Work Environment

Candidate Profile

• Extensive product management experience in platform domains, preferably involving developer tools, infrastructure, data, or AI.
• Strong systems thinking ability, adept at connecting and synthesizing work across different teams and development phases.
• Skilled at translating complex technical concepts into clear outcomes and guiding investment decisions.
• Outcome-oriented approach to discovery, delivery, and performance measurement, with demonstrated ability to validate success.
• Resilient and adaptable when facing uncertainty, evolving technologies, or incomplete information.
• Balanced curiosity and pragmatism, with the resilience to evolve early-stage experiments into scalable products.
