Job description

Overview

The Lead Operator role at BioNTech SE, based in Kigali, Rwanda, involves supervising and guiding a team through manufacturing processes to ensure efficient and compliant production in line with quality and safety standards. This position emphasizes adherence to cGMP and SOPs while maintaining a safe work environment and supporting continuous improvement in manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out and oversee manufacturing operations strictly following Standard Operating Procedures and production timelines.
  • Operate independently with minimal supervision across all production processes within the designated area, adhering to detailed operational instructions.
  • Set up, run, and clean production machinery used to create both intermediate and final products.
  • Meticulously document batch records, logs, and transactions linked to production to ensure efficiency and compliance with cGMP and SOPs.
  • Provide technical assistance and leadership to the team of manufacturing operators.
  • Demonstrate manufacturing procedures effectively to associate operators.
  • Lead the training and qualification of new operators as a certified trainer.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices across all activities.
  • Critically review manufacturing documentation to uphold product quality and safety standards.
  • Participate in internal audits and support various manufacturing team tasks as required.
  • Assist in investigating and documenting manufacturing deviations and non-conformances.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Possession of a minimum Bachelor’s degree in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Pharmacy, or related field.
  • At least two years of relevant work experience within chemical, pharmaceutical, or other cGMP-regulated industries.
  • Strong analytical, research, and presentation skills suitable for handling both qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Excellent communication abilities in English, both written and spoken.
  • Capacity to work independently and deliver results effectively.
