About the Role

Join GenesisCare UK's pioneering cancer centre located at Cromwell Hospital in Central London as a Lead Physicist specializing in MR Linac technology. This pivotal role involves providing scientific and technical leadership for MR-guided radiotherapy services, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality adaptive treatments using cutting-edge MR Linac systems. As a Medical Physics Expert (MPE), you will also contribute to clinical research, service development, and support innovation in radiotherapy techniques.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee and guide all aspects of MR Linac radiotherapy treatment planning and administration.
• Collaborate with clinical teams to support daily adaptive radiotherapy treatment delivery.
• Lead machine quality assurance, perform calibration, dosimetry, and comprehensive treatment plan verifications.
• Conduct assessments for re-irradiation cases and provide expert advice on tissue dose limits.
• Fulfill the role of site Medical Physics Expert and actively participate in the broader radiotherapy MPE network within GenesisCare.
• Mentor and support clinical staff in quality assurance, dosimetry, planning, and clinical governance activities related to radiotherapy machines.
• Work in partnership with engineering teams to ensure equipment maintenance, servicing, and optimal performance.
• Contribute to commissioning of upcoming MR Linac systems and other service improvement initiatives across the network.
• Engage in clinical trials, innovation programs, and research, disseminating findings through publications and scientific conferences.
• Drive continuous enhancement of physics and dosimetry services within the organisation.
• Provide support at other GenesisCare centres as needed for clinical services and projects, including travel.

Candidate Profile

• Registered Clinical Scientist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), specialising in Radiotherapy.
• Proven extensive background in Radiotherapy Physics and valid Medical Physics Expert qualification.
• Expertise in MR-guided radiotherapy and adaptive online treatment methodologies.
• Advanced knowledge of linear accelerator machine QA, dose calibration, treatment planning, including volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) and intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT).
• Experience with patient-specific quality assurance, CT and MRI scanner QA, image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT), and MR-based IGRT.
• Familiarity with stereotactic radiotherapy, respiratory gating, and sophisticated treatment delivery technologies.
• Solid understanding of the UK's radiotherapy healthcare landscape.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience in teaching, mentoring, and supporting clinical team members.
• Strong enthusiasm for innovation, service development, and ongoing improvement.
• Research experience and a record of scientific publication are desirable advantages.
