The platform excels in e-signature and contract lifecycle management, enabling organizations to create, execute, and manage agreements efficiently.
Role Overview
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Machine Learning Engineer to join our team and develop cutting-edge AI/ML solutions, focusing extensively on computer vision, natural language processing (NLP), and document comprehension. This individual contributor role reports directly to the Director and involves end-to-end machine learning model lifecycle activities, enhancing the Docusign Agreement Platform with personalized, automated experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with team members on developing, researching, testing, and evaluating advanced deep learning models and approaches, specifically tailored for contract-related challenges.
- Employ state-of-the-art architectures and technologies to enhance Docusign’s intellectual property, addressing complex NLP tasks including representation learning, text comprehension, semantic retrieval, contextual extraction, and summarization.
- Leverage computer vision techniques for document-related tasks such as layout analysis, object detection, image classification, and tagging.

- Support and refine existing systems for model training, evaluation, and real-time inferencing, define online performance metrics, and design mechanisms to incorporate user feedback for AI/ML features.
- Coordinate closely with engineering teams to deploy models into production environments, ensuring scalability, monitoring, and performance improvements.
- Partner with Product Management to translate customer requirements into robust, scalable machine learning designs applicable across diverse user scenarios.
Work Arrangement
This is a hybrid position requiring employees to split their time between office and remote work, with a minimum onsite presence of two days per week. Office access is mandatory, and the schedule may vary depending on team needs.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree with over 12 years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with more than 8 years experience, or a PhD coupled with at least 5 years of practical exposure, or an equivalent background.
- Proven experience in the design, development, deployment, and monitoring of machine learning and deep learning models.
- Proficiency in advanced deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Strong programming skills in Python.
- Educational background in computer science, physics, statistics, econometrics, operations research, applied mathematics, or a related computational discipline.
Preferred Expertise:
- Demonstrated hands-on experience deploying large-scale document understanding models into production.
- Skill in building multi-modal AI solutions integrating computer vision and NLP approaches.
- Familiarity with latest NLP techniques including large language models (LLMs) and contextual language representations.
- Expertise in text extraction using OCR and direct parsing from document formats like DOCX, images, and PDFs.
- A strong commitment to continuous learning and staying current with emerging industry trends and technologies.
- Extensive experience handling large, diverse datasets including collection, cleaning, sampling, and processing structured and unstructured data.
