Position Overview

NeoDyne is seeking a Lead Automation Engineer based in Cork to join our expanding Integration & Digital Manufacturing division. Our engineers engage in advanced automation projects focused mainly within the Energy, Life Sciences, and Food & Beverage industries. Knowledge of GAMP 5 standards and hands-on experience with Siemens, Rockwell, and AVEVA (Wonderware) products will be highly valuable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of automation and digital manufacturing engineers delivering customer projects.
  • Create engineering design documentation, conduct technical assessments, and develop test strategies.
  • Design and program industrial automation systems on PLC platforms.
  • Prepare input/output schedules and Functional Design Specifications.
  • Design and configure human-machine interfaces and SCADA control systems.
  • Develop control panel designs and generate wiring schematics.
  • Supervise field commissioning of control systems including instrumentation and I/O testing.
  • Ensure adherence to industry quality, safety, and compliance standards.
  • Troubleshoot control systems including PLCs, HMI/SCADA, and communication networks.
  • Review and approve hardware, software, and controls designs for automated systems.
  • Collaborate with customers to identify automation improvements leveraging data analytics.
  • Serve as the main technical liaison for clients and internal stakeholders supporting engineering, manufacturing, validation, and facilities teams.
  • Contribute technical expertise for bid proposals and tender submissions.
  • Monitor project progress, manage risks, and address issues proactively.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to junior and graduate engineers.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline.
  • 7 to 10 years of professional experience in automation engineering.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming with Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Schneider platforms.
  • Experience with HMI and SCADA systems such as Siemens, Rockwell, AVEVA, or Schneider.
  • Solid understanding of process instrumentation and wiring.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols like Profibus, Modbus, and DeviceNet.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with validated automation systems in pharmaceutical or food & beverage manufacturing sectors.
  • Possession of a full Irish driving license.
