About the Role
BASF Environmental Catalyst and Metal Solutions (ECMS) is seeking a dedicated Light Duty Screener at its Huntsville, AL facility. This role involves operating equipment safely and efficiently to screen and pack quality parts, ensuring they meet customer specifications and internal standards. The position offers an hourly starting wage of $20.07 with additional shift differentials ($0.50/hr for day shifts and $2.50/hr for night shifts).
Responsibilities
- Operate all machinery following strict safety protocols.
- Report any unsafe conditions to management promptly.
- Adhere to detailed work instructions; complete necessary training for each task.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient work environment.
- Identify, segregate, and handle rework and scrap materials to avoid contamination.
- Screen and package parts to ensure they fulfill customer and company quality standards.
- Set up and correctly adjust stamping and labeling equipment per lot requirements.
- Utilize customer specification databases to understand product requirements.
- Help keep scrap rates at or below company targets.
- Complete all requisite documentation related to job assignments.
- Participate actively in continuous improvement initiatives at the plant.
- Manage lot closures and resolve count discrepancies.
- Master operation of equipment in assigned areas, such as frit blasters and production saws.
- Determine appropriate disposition for parts and products when questions arise.
- Cover team member breaks by stepping into finishing roles.
- Operate forklifts when needed.
- Be capable of filling any position along the packaging line.
- Notify team leadership when scrap exceeds acceptable levels.
- Monitor and maintain oven temperatures within specifications.
- Process all required system transactions accurately.
- Support coordination of finisher assignments as necessary.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- At least two years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in mathematics and science education is advantageous.
- Competency in handling medium complexity machinery and intermediate computer use.
- Strong troubleshooting skills related to assigned manufacturing processes.
- Good problem-solving abilities, including following complex instructions presented in various formats.
- Ability to work independently and address multifaceted issues in standardized tasks involving multiple steps.
