Position Summary
The Laundry Attendant is tasked with maintaining the cleanliness and proper handling of all guest room linen and terry cloth items. For full-service hotels with Food and Beverage divisions, this responsibility extends to F&B linen as well. Coordination with Housekeeping Management is essential to maintain linen inventory levels on guest floors.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect soiled linens from laundry chutes and carts for processing.
- Sort, wash, dry, fold, and store all linens and terry cloth items appropriately, including manual handling of heavy wet laundry during washer and dryer loading/unloading.
- Distribute freshly cleaned linen and terry to housekeeping and food and beverage teams, as applicable.
- Operate laundry equipment such as washers, dryers, flat irons, and ironing boards based on guest requests.
- Maintain stock levels of linen and terry in designated storage areas.
- Track and update daily linen and terry inventories to meet department needs.
- Replenish laundry supplies from storage as required.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry area, including sweeping, mopping, and cleaning of machines (lint trays, dryer vents, inside/outside surfaces).
- Work safely with cleaning chemicals and adhere to OSHA regulations and company policies.
- Assist in additional housekeeping duties as needed.
- Respond promptly to housekeeping customer needs within 10 minutes.
- Use guest names respectfully when on guest floors, entering rooms, or in public areas.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Basic English proficiency for reading, writing, speaking, and effective communication with Team Members and guests.
- Capability to follow simple one- or two-step instructions and comply in standardized situations with minimal variation.
- Flexibility to work various shifts.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive hand, arm, and leg movements.
- Capability to handle, feel objects and controls, reach with arms, and perform bending, kneeling, crouching, or crawling activities.
- Comfort working with cleaning chemicals and in warm environments; no dust allergies.
- Ability to regularly lift/move wet laundry weighing over 10 pounds, frequently up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Good close, distance, and color vision.
- Capacity to manage mentally and physically stressful situations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Related experience or training is advantageous.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
