Job description
Position Overview
Under direct oversight, the Laundry Aide is responsible for responsibly collecting, sorting, laundering, distributing, and storing facility linens and residents' personal clothing in compliance with the facility's established procedures.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage all laundering tasks adhering strictly to sanitary standards.
- Sort soiled laundry into designated categories and transport loads to and from laundry machines.
- Operate washers and dryers to wash, dry, fold, and hang laundry precisely and neatly.
- Label personal clothing of residents to identify ownership and note any relevant observations on items.
- Wear and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment when handling contaminated clothes.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
- Completion of high school diploma or equivalent qualification.
- Preferred minimum of one year experience in a similar laundry-related role.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
The position requires the ability to meet physical demands such as speaking, hearing, manual dexterity, standing, walking, sitting, reaching, pulling, pushing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. The incumbent must be capable of lifting or moving weights up to 50 pounds independently and between 51 and 100 pounds with assistance. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, and peripheral sight, including focusing ability.
The job functions within a professional office environment with minimal exposure to dust, chemicals, or noise. Regular use of standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines is typical.
