The Role

We seek a passionate Landscape Designer to collaborate with ecologists, architects, horticulturists, and urban planners to create bio-centric designs that support ecological restoration and biodiversity conservation. This position is a unique blend of landscape architecture and ecology, focusing on design thinking that bridges people, places, and ecosystems.

The role involves transforming ecological knowledge and scientific research into practical and visually engaging landscape designs. Projects may include forest edge habitats, public spaces, habitat restoration, micro-forests, nature-based solutions for terrestrial as well as coastal and marine settings, and other initiatives that aim to enhance biodiversity and ecosystem health.

This position is ideal for a designer ready to move beyond traditional landscape design and actively contribute to ecological goals. Key Duties

• Create landscape concepts, layouts, and design proposals incorporating ecological concepts.
• Convert scientific ecological data into clear spatial design plans.
• Support projects focused on habitat improvement, ecological restoration, biodiversity enhancement, and climate resilience.
• Produce drawings, diagrams, visualizations, presentations, and other documentation for design projects.
• Work collaboratively with ecologists, scientists, conservationists, researchers, and design professionals.
• Engage in site visits, fieldwork, workshops, and meetings with stakeholders.
• Investigate materials, planting strategies, construction methods, and nature-inspired design techniques.
• Effectively communicate complex ecological ideas through engaging visual and spatial storytelling.
• Innovate designs that work harmoniously with natural systems rather than opposing them.

Candidate Profile

• Possession of a degree in Landscape Architecture or a closely related field.
• Preferred prior work experience; however, recent graduates demonstrating strong community engagement or equivalent skills are also encouraged to apply.
• Strong passion for ecological design, biodiversity, and restoration.
• Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Rhino, SketchUp, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, GIS, or similar tools.
• Ability to conceptualize and develop viable design solutions.
• Enthusiasm to learn interdisciplinary knowledge beyond conventional landscape architecture.
• Excellent design and visual communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills fostering collaboration and effective communication.
• Knowledge of Singapore’s tropical terrestrial, coastal, and marine ecosystems is advantageous.
