About the Role
Finning Canada is currently looking to hire a permanent Journeyperson Helper / Labourer to join their team in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, working a 5 days on, 2 days off shift schedule. This opportunity involves performing a variety of foundational tasks within a service-focused environment, supporting maintenance operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Keeping the shop, yard, and machinery tidy and organized through general cleaning tasks
- Assisting Journeyperson Mechanics with minor repairs and routine maintenance work
- Helping with the removal and installation of safety guards and steaming components on machines
- Fueling equipment as necessary to maintain operations
- Performing minor servicing on machines, including oil changes and other routine upkeep
- Maintaining attachments used with equipment
- Completing general service shop responsibilities as assigned
Candidate Profile and Qualifications
- Minimum education requirement: successful completion of Grade 12
- Completion of a pre-apprenticeship program will be considered an advantage
- Mechanical aptitude demonstrated by the ability to work independently and follow instructions effectively
- Strong organizational, teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills to contribute positively within the team
- Capability to perform effectively with limited supervision
- Previous exposure to maintenance shop environments, mechanical background, and forklift certification are beneficial but not mandatory

Work Conditions and Union Membership
- This position is specifically located at the Yellowknife branch following a 5x2 shift roster with some possibility of schedule adjustments to meet business needs
- Shift changes, if they occur, will comply with the current collective agreement in place
- Employment requires immediate membership in the union associated with this role, including deductions for union dues from paychecks, and terms governed by the collective agreement
