Labourer

About the Role

Amentum invites applications for a full-time Labourer to be based at the Alice Springs office. Under the Maintenance Supervisor’s guidance, this position involves working on minor construction sites where you will use various hand and power tools, excavate trenches, backfill holes, compact soil, and handle concrete mixing, pouring, and spreading.

You will also provide assistance to skilled tradespeople including carpenters, electricians, and plumbers. Your landscaping duties will encompass lawn maintenance activities such as mowing, trimming, edging, and weed control, along with other related tasks.

Work Schedule: Monday to Thursday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, and Friday from 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM, totaling 38 hours weekly.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out diverse tasks to support the company’s Vesta contract obligations, including tool operation, trench digging, earth moving, concrete work, and assistance to tradespeople.
• Provide support to trades and maintenance teams, assisting with general facilities upkeep as needed.
• Perform all duties with strict adherence to safety protocols, ensuring safe and professional execution and immediate reporting of any incidents.
• Complete assigned jobs within designated timeframes while complying with company policies.
• Utilize computer systems for task planning and record keeping.
• Fulfill additional duties assigned by the Vesta Management Team.

Candidate Profile

• Possession of a valid HR Driver’s License.
• Previous experience in carpentry, electrical, or plumbing trades is advantageous.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety with a proven record of safe working practices.
• Capability to function collaboratively within a team and independently with minimal supervision.
• Experience working at heights considered favorable.
• Ability to meet deadlines and efficiently complete tasks.
• Skills in problem identification, analysis, and solution development.

Work Environment

Working in Alice Springs involves physically demanding tasks that may be performed in hot conditions. Typical duties include patching and painting walls, housing maintenance, outdoor tap replacements, lawn improvements, and door replacements.

Security Clearance Requirement
