Job description

About the Employer

Rising Edge Group is an electrical contracting firm established in 2002, focused on high-voltage electrical work that supports essential infrastructure throughout North America. With operations in Canada and the United States, the company works with utility, renewable energy, and industrial clients to design, construct, and maintain critical systems that communities and industries depend on.

The organization is driven by a mission to improve the resilience, dependability, and progress of energy infrastructure. Its STRIDE values — Safety, Teamwork, Responsibility, Integrity, Deliver, and Excellence — shape a workplace that emphasizes people, growth, mentorship, collaboration, and safety above all else.

Role Overview

As a Labourer, you will report to the Construction Manager and assist crew leaders with general site support work. The position involves physical outdoor labour such as digging, lifting, cable pulling, material handling, and keeping the worksite tidy and well organized. You will also use basic hand tools safely and may be required to drive company vehicles when needed.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Carrying out demanding manual work in an active outdoor setting and adapting to changing weather conditions, including digging, lifting, pulling cable, and moving tools, materials, and equipment
  • Keeping the job site clean, orderly, and free of unnecessary debris through ongoing housekeeping tasks
  • Clearing snow from the work area when required
  • Operating company vehicles safely when assigned and informing the Site Supervisor about any maintenance concerns
  • Supporting equipment operators by fastening attachments and helping guide the movement of machinery and materials on site
  • Using and caring for basic hand tools in a safe manner

Schedule and Working Conditions

This is a safety-sensitive position. Employment depends on passing pre-employment drug and alcohol screening, along with criminal and general background checks.

  • Work rotation: 5 days on, 2 days off
  • Total hours: 48 hours per week
  • Shift pattern: 10-hour shifts from Monday to Thursday and an 8-hour shift on Friday

What We Are Looking For

  • Education equivalent to Grade 10 at minimum; a High School Diploma is preferred
  • At least 1 year of construction experience, ideally in the medium- to high-voltage sector
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Physical capacity to lift up to 55 lbs
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record
  • Willingness to work varying shifts, including weekends and after-hours when required
  • Comfort working at heights of at least 9 feet and climbing ladders
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English
  • CSTS certification is an added advantage

Benefits and Rewards

  • Competitive pay with weekly payment cycles
  • Overtime opportunities depending on the project
  • Generous paid time off
  • Employer-matched RRSP-DPSP, with contributions increasing based on years of service
  • Full benefits coverage including medical, dental, vision, and disability
  • Safety training provided at no cost
  • Annual PPE allowance for field employees after probation
  • Ongoing training, learning, and advancement opportunities
  • Employee Assistance Program with confidential counselling support
  • Employee referral bonus program
