Job Overview
The Kitchen Technician is tasked with installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing commercial kitchen machinery and systems within a hotel setting. This position demands solid technical expertise in kitchen appliances, preventative upkeep protocols, and swift response to equipment failures to maintain seamless hotel operations.
Key Duties
- Perform both preventive and corrective maintenance on all commercial kitchen devices.
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair kitchen appliances including ovens, grills, fryers, cooking ranges, refrigerators, cold rooms, dishwashers, ventilation systems, food warmers, ice machines, and coffee machines.
- Identify electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration faults and promptly address emergency breakdowns to return equipment to service.
- Execute routine inspections and preventive maintenance schedules as per hotel guidelines.
- Conduct basic electrical maintenance including checking wiring, switches, relays, thermostats, and control panels.
- Assess and maintain gas-powered kitchen technology, identifying leaks or operational issues and coordinating with specialists as needed.
- Regularly check refrigeration and temperature-controlled appliances.
- Maintain detailed logs of maintenance, repairs, parts used, and equipment failures.
- Collaborate with Kitchen and Food & Beverage teams regarding equipment statuses and upkeep requirements.
- Assist in installation, commissioning, and replacement of new kitchen equipment.
- Keep tools and spare parts well-organized and maintained.
- Adhere strictly to health, safety, hygiene, and fire safety policies at all times ensuring compliance with UAE regulations and hotel standards.
- Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs when necessary.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety in work zones following maintenance tasks.
- Perform additional engineering and maintenance responsibilities as assigned by management.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma, ITI, or technical certification in Electrical, Mechanical, Refrigeration, or related field.
- 2 to 4 years of relevant experience as a Kitchen Equipment Technician or similar role.
- Previous experience in hospitality or commercial kitchen environments preferred.
- Good understanding of commercial kitchen equipment and maintenance procedures.
- Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems.
- Knowledge of refrigeration and HVAC systems advantageous.
- Familiarity with gas-operated kitchen equipment preferred.
- Ability to interpret electrical wiring diagrams and equipment manuals.
- Proficient with preventive and corrective maintenance techniques.
