Kitchen Helper

Overview

This position is for a kitchen helper working onsite at Osaka Sushi in Bonnyville, Alberta, Canada. Work requires physical presence as remote work is not an option. The role involves various kitchen and service support duties essential to daily restaurant operation.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Transport clean dishes, flatware, and other necessary items to serving stations and assist with table setting.
• Maintain sanitation by cleaning dishwasher mats, kitchen carts, and waste disposal units.
• Clear and clean tables along with trays and chairs after customer use.
• Load buspans and trays for dishwashing and handle dishwasher operation for dishes, glassware, and flatware.
• Store cleaned dishes in the appropriate storage areas.
• Replenish table condiments and supplies at serving areas as needed.
• Manually wash and sanitize dishes and kitchen items, including scouring pots and pans.
• Keep accurate records of food quantities used.
• Package take-out food orders and assist with portioning and wrapping food items.
• Prepare, heat, and complete simple food items for service.
• Serve customers directly at counters or buffet-style tables and take customer orders.
• Stock refrigerators and salad bars to maintain supply levels.
• Use manual and electrical equipment to clean, peel, slice, and trim foodstuffs.
• Ensure kitchen cleanliness, including work surfaces, storage areas, appliances, and equipment.
• Handle and safely store cleaning products.
• Receive, unpack, and organize supplies into refrigerators, freezers, cupboards, and other storage spaces.
• Dispose of kitchen garbage and trash effectively.
• Maintain kitchen tools by sharpening knives and polishing floors by sweeping, mopping, and washing.
• Prepare vegetables and fruits by washing, peeling, and cutting as required.

Requirements

• No formal education degree, certificate, or diploma is required for the role.
• Prior experience in similar kitchen or food service roles is considered an advantage but not mandatory.
• Proficiency in English language for communication.
