Role Overview

The Key Worker role is focused on delivering interventions to NDIS participants, particularly children aged between 0 and 8 years, and their families. This role requires flexibility to provide therapy sessions during before and after school hours, which are peak times of demand.

Typical Day and Responsibilities

• Provide therapy in various community settings including homes, schools, playgrounds, and community centres.
• Conduct initial appointments by assessing and communicating with families to understand the child’s needs and goals.
• Collaborate with educators and therapists, such as speech pathologists, to promote children's motor, communication, and social skills development.
• Support families in finding suitable educational environments for their children.
• Develop meaningful relationships with participants, their families, carers, and support network.
• Complete accurate session documentation and usage of the online participant management system.
• Participate actively in team meetings and engage with team leaders and therapy mentors for clinical guidance.
• Attend mentoring sessions focused on assistive technology and behavioural support strategies.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

• Hold a relevant tertiary qualification and current registration appropriate to your profession: Occupational Therapy (AHPRA), Physiotherapy (AHPRA), Speech Pathology (SPA), Early Childhood or Special Education teaching degrees, or Social Work (eligible for AASW membership).
• At least 12 months' experience working with children aged 0-8 years, particularly those with disabilities.
• Exhibit a positive, adaptable work approach and strong communication skills.
• Demonstrate teamwork and commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.
• Possess a valid Australian driver's license and clearance through NDIS Workers Screening and Working with Children Checks.
• Be available to provide therapy sessions before and after school hours.
