Junior Site Engineer

Job Overview

We seek a meticulous Junior Site Engineer trainee skilled in electrical wiring, power cable installation, structured cabling, and network infrastructure tasks. The role requires familiarity with basic electrical systems, cable routing, termination, testing, and maintenance, alongside strict adherence to safety protocols. Collaboration with supervisors and technical teams is crucial to guarantee quality outcomes and timely completion of site operations.

Core Responsibilities

• Set up electrical wiring, conduits, trunking, and cable trays.
• Execute power cable laying, glanding, termination, and dressing processes.
• Install switches, sockets, lighting fixtures, distribution boards (DBs), MCBs, RCCBs, and related electrical components.
• Route and lay power, control, and low-voltage cables efficiently.
• Deploy structured cabling systems including LAN (Cat 5e/Cat 6), telephone, CCTV, and CC-IN cabling.
• Install and upkeep cable panels, patch panels, I/O outlets, and network racks.
• Manage cable labelling, ferruling, and ensure orderly cable management.
• Conduct tests such as power and data cable testing, continuity, insulation resistance, and earthing assessments using proper equipment.
• Detect, diagnose, and resolve issues in electrical wiring and cabling.
• Perform both preventive and corrective maintenance when necessary.
• Interpret electrical and cabling layout drawings accurately.
• Adhere to company safety rules, electrical standards, and site procedures.
• Utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain safety throughout work activities.
• Coordinate with supervisors and other technical teams to facilitate smooth project execution.
• Undertake additional electrical and cabling-related tasks as directed by management.

Educational Requirements and Preferences

• Diploma in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, or related technical disciplines.
• Candidates with applicable technical knowledge or hands-on experience in electrical and cabling operations will have an advantage.

Skills and Competencies

• Basic understanding of electrical wiring and cable installation methods.
• Knowledge of power, control, and low-voltage cable systems.
• Experience or familiarity with LAN cabling, CCTV wiring, and networking rack setups.
• Elementary troubleshooting abilities and fault detection skills.
• Capability to interpret electrical and cabling layout schematics.
• Awareness of electrical safety procedures and proper PPE usage.
• Strong communication aptitude and teamwork mindset.
• Readiness to work on project sites and comply with site instructions.
