Job Summary

We are searching for a skilled Junior Planner to support the planning and scheduling facets of hospitality-related projects, including hotels, resorts, restaurants, or mixed-use developments. The role is pivotal in assisting with project timelines, tracking progress on site, compiling reports, and liaising between teams involved in design, procurement, construction, and subcontractor management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating and revising detailed project schedules utilizing planning tools.
  • Support the generation of baseline, detailed, recovery, and short-term look-ahead schedules.
  • Gather daily and weekly progress updates from onsite teams, consultants, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Monitor actual progress compared to approved schedules and identify risks or delays impacting project delivery.
  • Help prepare progress reports, dashboards, and detailed schedule analysis for stakeholders.
  • Maintain and update project planning databases with accurate and timely information.
  • Coordinate across multiple teams including construction, design, procurement, commercial, and project management to ensure schedule adherence.
  • Track deliverables such as design submissions, material approvals, procurement status, and milestones in construction.
  • Attend progress meetings and document planning-related discussions and action points.
  • Assist in reviewing subcontractor and supplier schedules for alignment and feasibility.
  • Prepare short-term schedules looking two to three weeks ahead to plan upcoming activities.
  • Support the analysis of delays and development of recovery plans when necessary.
  • Ensure schedule updates incorporate any approved alterations, variations, or sequence changes accurately.
  • Organize planning documentation and maintain comprehensive records of schedule revisions.
  • Perform additional tasks assigned by Planning or Project Managers to support project success.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Architecture, or a related discipline.
  • Have at least 2 to 5 years of experience in project planning, construction scheduling, or project controls.
  • Prior exposure to hospitality, commercial, residential, or fit-out construction projects is advantageous.
  • Understanding of construction operations, project sequencing, and site activities.
  • Proficiency in project planning principles and progress tracking methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar scheduling software is required.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Office suite.
  • Basic grasp of concepts like critical path analysis, float, milestones, resources, and schedule logic.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and related project documents.
  • Experience with BIM or document management systems is beneficial.
  • Strong organizational skills and capability to manage time effectively.
  • Adept at analytical thinking and problem-solving.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Capability to perform under pressure while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Effective communication and coordination skills for multicultural team environments.
  • Willingness to visit and work on project sites as needed.
  • Proactive and persistent in following up on pending issues.
  • Capacity to work autonomously while supporting senior planning personnel.
