Job Summary

The Junior Manager - Landside Operations supports the Shift In Charge in overseeing seamless traffic movement, infrastructure upkeep, and safety and security management across the airport road network at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA). This role involves collaborating closely with diverse stakeholders to ensure efficient and secure access for all parties including passengers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Delhi Traffic Police and Delhi Police to maintain smooth traffic flow within IGIA's jurisdiction.
  • Conduct routine perimeter patrols within the designated airport responsibility area to uphold security standards.
  • Ensure complete functionality and upkeep of security equipment.
  • Monitor compliance with regulatory standards and maintain documentation, minimizing observations during inspections and audits.
  • Assist in responding to terminal emergencies such as bomb threats, hijacking attempts, or any unlawful interference with civil aviation.
  • Exercise operational supervision over taxi services including black and yellow taxis and premium operators, resolving conflicts amicably to avoid disruptions.
  • Support enforcement of access control at VIP parking and crucial installations under jurisdiction.
  • Maintain effective coordination with other airport departments and law enforcement agencies.
  • Lead enforcement initiatives against unauthorized parking on Northern Access Road and limit overstay at the departure and arrival forecourts, generating relevant revenue through penalty collection.
  • Oversee adherence to service level agreements by vendors under landside management, ensuring prompt corrective action on any deviations.
  • Facilitate removal of unauthorized touts, hawkers, and vendors from airport premises.
  • Manage smooth operation of shuttle buses, inter-terminal transfers, public transport centers, and vehicle movements at loading docks.
  • Plan and execute transport routes and parking arrangements for VIPs and dignitaries to ensure seamless mobility.

Stakeholder Engagement

Maintains regular interactions with external bodies such as Delhi Traffic Police, Delhi Police, DTC, MCD, NHAI, Ministry of Civil Aviation, National Security Guard, airlines, Indian Air Force, and various taxi operators and local political entities to ensure coordinated operations. Internally collaborates with multiple airport divisions such as security, commercial, ARFF, legal, IT, engineering, and guest relations to support comprehensive airport functioning.

Financial and Operational Dimensions

  • Adhere strictly to Annual Operating Plan (AOP) ensuring optimal use of manpower and equipment to reduce unnecessary expenditures.
  • Support revenue generation initiatives estimated at approximately Rs. 12 crore by facilitating efficient pick-up lanes and assisting commercial teams.
  • Manage removal of around 1000 unauthorized vehicles to prevent revenue losses.
  • Supervise a workforce of about 100 personnel, including 70 staff managing traffic at Terminal 3 and 32 security personnel.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Graduate in any discipline.
  • At least 7 years of relevant experience, with a minimum of 5 years in security roles, including supervisory positions.
  • Preference for candidates from uniformed services or aviation security backgrounds.
  • Valid driving license and proficiency in operating four-wheelers.
  • Fluent communication skills in English and Hindi.
