Job description
About The Role
We are seeking a Junior DevOps Engineer passionate about creating reliable, secure, and automated infrastructure platforms rather than just handling operational support. This opportunity is ideal for recent graduates or professionals with 1-2 years of relevant experience who enjoy addressing infrastructure challenges programmatically.
Collaborating with engineering and platform teams, you will enhance the way applications are built, deployed, monitored, and protected across various cloud environments.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage Kubernetes-based application platforms.
- Automate deployment processes utilizing Docker, Helm, Terraform, and CI/CD tools.
- Provision infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code methodologies.
- Enhance system observability through tools like Grafana, Tempo, Alloy, and Mimir; converting telemetry data into practical insights.
- Support cloud and hybrid platforms primarily on GCP and OpenShift with a cloud-neutral perspective.
- Automate repetitive tasks continuously to reduce manual interventions.
- Participate in incident analysis, reliability enhancements, and follow-up actions post-incident.
- Collaborate with development teams to make deployments safer, quicker, and more repeatable.
- Contribute to enforcing platform security including secret management, access controls, container security, and compliance policies.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation, runbooks, and reusable automation scripts.
Candidate Profile
- Recent graduate or 1-2 years of experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, software engineering, or systems administration.
- Good grasp of Linux basics such as shell commands, process management, filesystems, permissions, package handling, and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of networking principles including DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, TCP/IP, load balancing, firewalls, and TLS.
- Experience with Git, GitHub, and CI/CD; familiarity with GitHub Actions is beneficial.
- Knowledge of containerization and orchestration, especially Docker and Kubernetes.
- Exposure to infrastructure-as-code tools, preferably Terraform.
- Basic familiarity with Helm, YAML, Git, and continuous integration/delivery concepts.
- Programming or scripting skills in at least one language such as Python, Bash, Go, or JavaScript.
- Interest in monitoring, logging, tracing, and ensuring system reliability.
- Strong automation-oriented mindset seeking repeatable solutions rather than manual methods.
- Effective communication and eagerness to learn within a collaborative team environment.
Additional Preferred Experiences
- Knowledge of monitoring and observability technologies like Grafana, Tempo, Alloy, Mimir, Prometheus, or OpenTelemetry.
- Experience or awareness of cybersecurity, governance, risk management, compliance, or audits.
- Understanding of secure software supply-chain principles, vulnerability assessment, IAM, secret management, or policy-as-code.
- Familiarity with GitOps tools such as Argo CD or Flux.
- Participation in open-source projects, personal lab environments, cloud certifications, internships, or relevant academic projects.
Success Metrics
Within the first year, you will assist teams in achieving more consistent deployments, automate manual operations, improve system visibility, and build substantive skills in cloud-native infrastructure, reliability, and security.
