Role Overview
The Junior Barista position is a full-time, on-site role located in Kochi, Kerala. This role involves preparing and serving traditional Indian coffees and other beverages according to established recipes, as well as assisting with simple food preparation tasks. Responsibilities include greeting guests warmly, taking orders accurately, managing payments, and maintaining a clean, organized workspace by cleaning equipment and restocking supplies.
The Junior Barista also supports senior staff by learning coffee brewing methods, adhering to hygiene and safety standards, and helping create a welcoming, inclusive environment for every café visitor.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Possess skills related to barista duties along with foundational knowledge of coffee and beverage preparation.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service and interpersonal abilities to engage positively with customers.
- Exhibit clear communication skills for taking orders, explaining menu items, and collaborating with the team.
- Have food preparation capabilities with an understanding of proper hygiene and safety protocols.
- Be physically fit to stand for long periods and manage a fast-paced work environment.
- Previous experience in a café or hospitality setting is advantageous but not mandatory for those eager to learn.
- Must be willing to work flexible schedules including mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays as needed.
- Basic proficiency in English and familiarity with local languages spoken in Kochi are preferred.
