Junior Accountant

About the Role

We seek a meticulous and methodical Junior Accountant to join our team in Addis Ababa. The individual will play a critical role in maintaining precise financial records, preparing financial statements, handling daily accounting operations, and ensuring adherence to Ethiopian financial legislation and internal company policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Compile monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports.
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions.
• Conduct reconciliation of bank statements and company accounts.
• Handle tax declarations and statutory submissions through the ERCA/eTax System.
• Manage compliance with VAT, Withholding Tax, Payroll Tax, Pension, and other legal requirements.
• Collaborate with HR to prepare and execute payroll processes.
• Facilitate internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation.
• Suggest enhancements for accounting procedures and internal controls.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of one year relevant experience in accounting.
• In-depth knowledge of Ethiopian tax legislation and financial regulatory frameworks.
• Practical experience utilizing the ERCA/eTax System for tax compliance and filing.
• Proficiency with accounting packages such as Peachtree, Odoo, or equivalent ERP solutions.
• Strong command of Microsoft Excel and Google Apps.
• Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
