Job Overview

This full-time, on-site Journalist position in Dar es-Salaam involves gathering, verifying, and reporting news stories for broadcast and digital platforms. Daily responsibilities include conducting interviews, collecting information from diverse sources, crafting news articles and scripts, and preparing press releases. The role requires working closely with editors, producers, and broadcast teams to craft story directions, guarantee editorial compliance, and meet deadlines. Monitoring current affairs, responding promptly to breaking news, and maintaining strict ethical standards in reporting are essential.

Qualifications

• Excellent writing abilities, including news-specific composition skills for clear and captivating journalism.
• Strong research capabilities for validating facts, sourcing trustworthy information, and developing comprehensive stories.
• Broadcasting expertise for presenting on-air content and preparing related scripts and segments.
• Experience in drafting press releases aimed at media and public audiences.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English; knowledge of Kiswahili is a significant advantage.
• Effective time management, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to operate under tight deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom.
• A relevant qualification such as a degree or diploma in Journalism, Mass Communication, Media Studies, or a closely related discipline.
